The sound & colour of music (scratching the surface).

Reel People – Amazing

When I first heard this song I couldn’t help but play it over and over which is why I find it interesting that acts like Amy Whinehouse, Duffy, Joss Stone, and to a lesser extent Alice Russell get all the notoriety when it comes to soul derived music from the UK. It’s funny people often state that music has no colour and arguably that might be true but in the business of music racial politics often play a major part. Maybe that’s why “other” talented UK soul acts are deemed not marketable in a mainstream sense? Where have we heard this before and who are most often the victims when it comes time for record contracts? The situation really seems shaded or hued of a darker variety. With that being said here is the first single “Amazing” featuring Tony Momrelle and Imaani from the Reel People’s Seven Ways to Wonder album released earlier this year. To be continued…..
